Mark your calendars for the fourth edition of Art Safari Bucharest: May 19 – JUNE 18th, 2017 at Galeriile Kretzulescu, 45 Calea Victoriei.
Wim Waelput (b. 1979, Ghent) is appointed curator of the Central Exhibition, a collateral event program of Art Safari 2017. Taking a transhistorical perspective on Romanian art, the exhibition will encompass works from the beginning of the modern tradition to the most actual artistic positions. The exhibition proposes a topical exploration of representational concerns, issues on identity and geopolitical conditions. Therefore, the exhibition will offer an alternative for the conventional understanding of art history and emphasize narratives and perspectives that are often overlooked. Wim Waelput is the director and curator of KIOSK, a venue for contemporary art in Ghent, Belgium, affiliated with the School of Arts.
