Hieromonk Pantelimon Şuşnea

Born in 1976. Until he embraced monastic life (1999) his Christian name was Sebastian.
Currently lives and works at the Oaşa Monastery – Alba County.

1999 BA in visual arts. His dissertation project (icon painting and mobile icons), supervised by Prof. Constantin Flondor, is part of the restoration project of the old church of Piatra Scrisă, Caraş-Severin County, conducted by Architect Radu Mihăilescu.

In the Oaşa Monastery, he initiates, together with other monks, an icon painting workshop. He
takes part in pilgrimages and field trips in ancient monastic locations, in contemporary Romanian museums and workshops, on Mount Athos, in Macedonia, Serbia, Germany, etc. In 2005, the Oaşa monastery hosts a meeting of the PROLOG group. In 2010, together with his guests, Dragoş Lumpan and Horea Preja, he coordinates two photo art workshops in the Oaşa Monastery.

2006-2010 Works from the Oaşa Monastery workshop are displayed in icon art exhibitions and symposia in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Deva, etc.
2009 He takes part in Stare Îngerească (Angelic State) exhibition, Veroniki Art Gallery, Bucharest, RO, with an icon depicting the Holy Trinity.
Since 2006, he has been working, together with Andrei Rosetti, on the altar painting of the
Assumption Cathedral of Deva, RO.
