Diana Oțet: Semințe de gând

Să ne gândim la acele momente când, în frig, încercam să facem pixul să scrie: îi suflam în vârf, îi răsuceam rezerva cu pastă între degete și, pe urmă, încercam să scoatem semne. Mai întâi apăreau șanțurile imprimate în hârtie, apoi liniile, cercurile, crics-cracsurile trasate deja de pasta însăși. Apariția liniei colorate era o adevărată bucurie, o mică realizare. Era începutul a ceva.
Desenele Dianei Oțet – fie decupate din caiete tematice (Coșmaruri și vise, Călătorii, Notițe și planuri, Nefericire lină), fie foi grafice mai ample – îmi amintesc de această operațiune de la care, în prima fază, nu aveam alte aşteptări decât ca pixul să scrie.
Ulterior, când instrumentul își dovedește rostul, primul semn trasat poate fi sămânța de gând care deschide o gamă largă de posibilități.
Astfel, Diana exploatează desenul în multiple ipostaze: scris, adnotare, analiză, studiu (anatomic, geometric, microscopic). Observarea și contemplarea realității imediate, ale lucrurilor, evenimentelor și ființelor apropiate duc spre interogarea mecanismelor aflate dincolo de acestea.
Observațiile grafice sunt călăuzite în zona cercetării începuturilor (ființelor, formelor), desenatorul căutând să înțeleagă acea ordine misterioasă care pare să se afle în spatele tuturor lucrurilor și viețuitoarelor.
Observatorul atent îşi pune la contribuție atât sensibilitatea, cât și spiritul de observaţie specific științelor naturii pentru a remodela în desenul său traseele devenirii și ale coagulării. Desenul devine act de cunoaștere și, ca atare, se leagă strâns de viața însăși, ba chiar se transformă într-un mod de a trăi, așa cum am învățat de la „desenatori” precum Leonardo da Vinci, Paul Klee sau Ștefan Bertalan.

Diana Oțet: Gondolatmagvak

Gondoljunk azokra a pillanatokra, amikor hidegben próbáltunk írni egy golyóstollal: ráleheltünk a hegyére és két tenyerünk között dörzsölve melegítettük fel a tollbetétet, így igyekeztük írásra bírni. Először csak papírba karcolt mélyedések látszódtak, majd fokozatosan megjelentek a tinta által hagyott jelek: vonalak, körök, krikszkrakszok. A színes vonal megjelenése igazi öröm volt, egy kisebb megvalósítás. Valaminek a kezdete.
Diana Oțet rajzai – legyenek akár tematikus füzetekből (Rémálmok és álmok, Utazások, Jegyzetek és tervek, Csendes nyomorúság) kivágott vagy nagyobb lélegzetű grafikai lapok – ugyancsak a fent említett műveletre emlékeztetnek, amelytől kezdetben nincs más elvárás, minthogy a golyóstoll írni kezdjen.
Miután az írószer hasznosnak bizonyult, az első papírra vetett jel lehet az a gondolatmag, mely utat nyit a lehetőségek széles tárháza előtt.
Ilyen értelemben, Diana a rajz többrétűségét – írás, jegyzet, elemzés, (anatómiai, geometriai, mikroszkopikus) tanulmány – hasznosítja. A közvetlen valóság, az egyes tárgyak, események és élőlények megfigyelése és szemlélése során a mögöttük rejlő mechanizmusokkal kapcsolatos kérdések fogalmazódnak meg.
A grafikai megfigyelés a kezdetek kutatása (élőlények, formák születése) felé visz, a rajzoló ez által törekszik a dolgok és élőlények léte mögött meghúzódó titokzatos rend megértésére.
Az intuíció és a természettudományokra jellemző analitikus szellem hivatottak arra, hogy a rajzokban a születés és összeforrás útvonalait megjelenítsék. Ily módon a rajz a megismerés eszközévé válik, szorosan kötődve magához az élethez, mi több, életformává alakul – úgy amint azt Leonardo da Vinci, Paul Klee vagy Bertalan István „rajzolóknál” láttuk.

Diana Oțet: Seeds of Thought

Let us think of those moments when in the cold we were trying to make the pen work: blowing its tip, rubbing its refill in our palms, and eventually, trying to leave some marks on the paper. First, there were just some scratches, then lines, circles, scribblings drawn by the ink itself. The appearance of the coloured line was a real joy for us, a tiny achievement. The beginning of something.
The drawings of Diana Oțet – be it thematic notebook cut-outs (Nightmares and Dreams, Notes and Plans, Smooth Misery) or more complex graphic sheets – remind us of this operation in which we had no other initial expectation but to make the pen write.
Subsequently, when the instrument proves its utility, the first drawn mark may be the seed of thought which opens a wide range of opportunities.
Thus, Diana exploits drawing in its multiple conditions: writing, annotation, analysis and study (anatomical, geometric, microscopic). The observation and contemplation of immediate reality, of nearby things, events and creatures make her question the underlying mechanisms.
Graphical observations are guided towards the search of the beginning (of creatures or forms), the artist who drew them trying to understand that mysterious order behind everything and everyone.
The careful observer puts into contribution not only her sensibility, but also that analytical spirit specific to natural science in order to remodel the paths of becoming and coagulation. Drawing becomes the act of recognition, being tightly connected  with life. Better yet, it becomes a lifestyle – as we have seen with „draughtsmen” like Leonardo da Vinci, Paul Klee or Ștefan Bertalan.
